7. Asian Winter Games will be held in Astana & Almaty
January 30 - February 6, 2011

The Asian Games, also called the Asiad, is a multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The games are regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) under the supervision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Medals are awarded in each event, with gold for first place, silver for second and bronze for third, a tradition which started in 1951.

The 7th Asian Winter Games will be held in two cities Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan. The most important event of the forthcoming Asian Games is the opening ceremony, which will be held on January 30 at the new football stadium in Astana. The ceremony will be the most vivid and spectacular event in the history of sovereign Kazakhstan and in the history of the Asian Winter Games. Officials, heads of friendly states, presidents of the International Olympic Committee and Olympic Council of Asia and other distinguished guests will attend the ceremony.

Until the closing ceremony on February 6 at the Sports Palace in Almaty which summarizes the large-scale event, more than 1,000 athletes from all over Asia will go for gold.

For many Asian countries, the Asian Games have the same significance as the Olympic Games. Therefore, preparations and delivery of such a large-scale event will once again demonstrate the leading positions of Kazakhstan in various areas and will be an evident acknowledgement of the country achievements.

Kazakhstan has transformed itself to prepare to welcome the world. Kazakhstan is sharing its light with the world with incredible new sports venues, amazing architecture and a welcoming people.

The World Awards for Body and Facepainting Artists
June 27 - July 3, 2011 - Carinthia/Austria

The World Bodypainting Festival from 27th June to 3rd July 2011 is the meeting place for the bodypainting world. For a decade now artists from up 40 nations have travelled to Carinthia to be a part of this event. We had to look for new location after the last festival in summer 2010. The festival organisation was successful in finding the perfect place for inspiration. The peninsula in Pörtschach at the Lake “Wörthersee” offers the best conditions to develop the hot spot of the bodypainting world over the next years.

Participants from around 40 Nationen will again display and perform admired by about 30.000 visitors during the main days in Bodypaint City. The festival builds up over a week with three final main days in “Bodypaint City”, from 1st – 3rd July, hosting the World Championships. Artists paint on the peninsula of Pörtschach sourrounded by the beautiful touristic water of the Lake. The location is a natural jewel that offers artists a creative surrounding. The living artworks are then presented on stage with spectacularshows, sometimes including the most amazing special effects.

The evenings are full of socialising in selected bars as well as a major highlight on Wednesday the 30th June the ‘Bodycircus’, a costumed fantasy ball, in a new spectacular location. The venue will transform into a mystical fairy tale location with guests arriving in costume ranging from Bodypainting, body decoration and masks, to extreme make-up and fantasy fashion. There is also an astounding style presentation as well as three levels of music with international DJ’s from ForceFm London as well as Ministry of Sound London, Air dancers, shows, costume prizes and entertainment. The ‘BodyCircus’ promises to be an evening of magic, pushing boundaries and letting imagination run free. The festival main days, start from 10.30 morning till late night from the 1st – 3rd July in the open air festival grounds, the “Bodypaint City”. The new location offers a very long lake shore so that artists are almost painting on the water. The World Awards 2011 main categories are “brush/sponge”, “airbrush” and “special effects bodypainting”. Several hours of extreme concentration are required from the artists, as well as a lot of patience from the models. In the late afternoon, the painted bodies will be presented to the audience and to the judges. During the presentation, spectacular shows will astonish the visitors. There will also be the night contest in Bodypainting, the ‘World Fluoro Award’. Fluorescent colours will be used and the models will glow and shine by using ultra violet lights all around the stage. Spectacular effects and performances are guaranteed. Because of the time the artists need during the day, the daily program for the main days will be enlivened by a variety of show events, colour-performances, multimediashows, body art fashion shows, styling-shows, live music and dj’s from all over the globe on 3 stages.

The festival week finishes off with an explosive awards ceremony on Sunday night for the new World Champions, followed by massive music synchronised fireworks and an after show party supported by international DJ’s.

Energy Globe Foundation and Club of Rome discuss turn in energy policy

The world’s energy demand is on the rise, and the call for a fair distribution of energy and resources while, at the same time, protecting the environment and climate is becoming increasingly more pronounced. World business, politics, and society are confronted with unprecedented challenges. The nature of these challenges and which solutions present themselves will be discussed by the Wise Men of the Energy Globe Foundation under the chairmanship of President Ashok Khosla, President of the Club of Rome, on 28 August 2011 in Salzburg, Austria.

The event was initiated by Wolfgang Neumann, founder of the Energy Globe Foundation. Other high-profile participants are: Internationally renowned innovation researcher and vice president of the Indian Innovation Foundation, Anil Gupta; former EU Commissioners Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Franz Fischler; “green” investment banker Hong Nguyen, prominent captains of industry such as Klaus Fronius, Martin Essl, and many more.

As early as 1972, in its report Limits to Growth, the Club of Rome warned of a collapse within the next one hundred years, should the present-day trend remain unchanged: “If the current increase in world population growth, industrialization, environmental pollution, food production, and depletion of natural resources continues at its current pace, the world’s absolute limits to growth will be reached within the next one hundred years.” The report’s 1992 and 2004 updates reach a similar conclusion. In all this, energy plays a central role. It is the driving force and ensures prosperity. However – will there be sufficient energy available to supply the world’s needs? Is there such a thing as the human right to energy? How can a fair distribution of energy be accomplished? Which energy sources play a decisive role? Which economic and political framework conditions are necessary in order to guarantee global energy supply and thus stable societies? What can and ought to be done by each and every individual? What responsibility does the industrialized world have towards emerging nations? These and many other questions will be discussed by a high-profile panel of experts throughout the Colloquium at the Salzburg Caverns. Beginning this year, the event will take place annually, including the adoption of a manifesto.

The Energy Globe Foundation is a non-profit organization focusing on the creation of a higher level of  awareness for energy efficiency and sustainability. This objective has been achieved over a number of years via the organization’s two main activities: The Energy Globe World Award for Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Online Portal. Wolfgang Neumann, the organization’s founder, has been committed to working on energy efficiency for several decades. He is the founder of the Energiesparmesse, a trade show dedicated to renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, and has developed many campaigns in this field as well.In recognition of his many local and international achievements, Neumann is the recipient of numerous awards, most recently the EU Citizen Award.

Environmental presentation projects from around the world as answer to the greatest challenges.

While many are discussing how the global environmental challenges of our time can be solved, there are people everywhere around the world working sometimes in secret but all the more effectively to convert these solutions into practice. Many of these environmental heros will travel to Wels, Austria on the 25th of November 2011 to the Energy Globe Awards to be distinguished for their outstanding work in the categories Earth, Fire, Water, Youth and Air. The Energy Globe Award is the most important environmental prize worldwide today, presenting and awarding best practice sustainable projects from around the world each year. An average of 1000 projects from over 100 states take part in Energy Globe Awards annually.

In any case there is the promise of astonishment in Wels! Projects set in practice from every continent have one thing in common: they solve local and global problems optimally. High Tech is as much in use as thought and the spirit of invention.

There are a considerable range or projects:

The nominated projects range from a worldwide most efficient prototype for a supermarket in Europe, to a Swedish harbor where ships can tank with clean energy, an internationally unique energy storage system in Canada, a financing model for an off grid supply of villages in Senegal with local evaluation and a Bio-gas project for usage in hotels and industry in Kenya. In Nigeria there is a “Farmers Radio” where local farmers can learn the latest news about lasting agriculture, a super energy control center in the Emirates, a passive house project in Russia, water supply in Nepal and Nicaragua, a water purification project in Rwanda that has simultaneously become a successful business model for local women and exciting youth projects from Zambia, Ghana and the USA.

Energy Globe founder Wolfgang Neumann is rightfully enthusiastic. “At this gala in Wels the complete strengths of energy efficiency meet. It’s unbelievable what is happening here in the world. By presenting the Energy Globe Awards we would like to highlight what can be achieved when we work together.”

All projects will be presented at the Energy Globe gala in Wels and the winners in each category will be awarded. From this voting the Energy Globe World Champion will be chosen.  An exciting race is expected. On the 25th of November the glowing environmental heros will stand on the stage. Star Moderator Désirée Nosbusch will present the gala.

High ranking guests will present the awards including Energy Globe head of the Jury Maneka Gandhi, the Australian attorney and Bush Heritage Australia Board Member, Leanne Liddle, originating from Ghana the former boss of the World Bank Inspection Panel, Prof. Eduard Ayensu, the green Investment banker, founder and CEO of Starise Investment, Hong Nguyen and the Austrian economic and energy minister Reinhold Mitterlehner.

Energy Globe launched UN World Environment Day 2010 in Rwanda.

The Energy Globe World Awards in the Plenary Hall of the European Parliament have been absolute highlights for the Energy Globe at the European level. Now the world’s most prominent environmental award is on the threshold of a global milestone:
On June 3, 2010 the Energy Globe Award and its international Energy Globe TV Gala launched this year’s UN World Environment Day in Rwanda under the auspices of UNEP.

UN World Environment Day is the world’s largest environmental campaign, with participation by 150 nations. This global aspect is also underscored by the Energy Globe projects submitted from 105 nations; they show how to reasonably and efficiently use our resources in harmony with the motto of this year’s World Environment Day: Many species. One planet. One future.

From all continents, high-ranking representatives and the nominees for Energy Globe awards traveled to Rwanda to represent nations such as USA, Taiwan, Sweden, Norway, Bangladesh, Nepal, Micronesia, Madagascar, Pakistan, India, Argentina, Morocco, Germany, Slovenia and Austria.

In 13 & 40 minutes documentary broadcasts worldwide, the Gala was moderated by the charming and internationally known ambassador of the Energy Globe, Désirée Nosbusch. The broadcast is featuring projects, the winners, the nation of Rwanda, and the activities of the UN to protect the environment and promote World Environment Day.

World Environment Day was initiated in 1972 by the UN and is held each year on June 5 in a different host nation. Rwanda was selected for 2010 because the east African nation sets an international example regarding environment.

Cross-country skiing extravaganza in Tannheim Valley, Europe’s most beautiful high mountain valley!
January 26 - 31, 2010 / Tyrol, Austria

Anyone who wants to test their endurance and experience the fever of competition is invited to the public cross-country ski run in Tannheim Valley in Tyrol, a natural gem on the border with Bavaria. This is where the start signal will be given for the 14th Tannheim Valley-Bad Hindelang Ski Trail. Around 1,400 participants from around the world are expected again this year. The accompanying fringe events are rather impressive: glowing giants of the air, cross-country runs for children and night owls, breath-taking films, as well as free lectures, pointers and equipment trials.

At 9.30 on Saturday the 30th of January, the starting signal for the 14 and 25 km classic races will be given. The longer course leads out of Tannheim towards Unterjoch in neighbouring Allgäu, over the ski trail between Schattwald and Zoeblen, and back to Tannheim.

On Sunday the 31st of January, the participants will leave the tracks behind for the 35 and 55 km skate skiing. The longer course starts in Tannheim and leads to Oberjoch, which at 1,200 metres is the highest mountain village in Germany, and over the Halden Lake back to the starting point. Overall, the athletes will have to overcome an altitude of about 600 metres.

The fringe events are also athletically brilliant: the week-long cross-country event opens on Sunday the 26th of January with the European Outdoor Film Tour 09/10.

The climate advisor to US President Barack Obama, Carol Browner, is expected as representative of the new US environmental policy. Among the prominent award presenters is EU Commissioner Stavros Dimas.

The glamour factor for the TV gala will be provided by international show stars and artists. It has already been announced that French singer Viktor Lazlo will attend and contribute musically to the mood of the after-show party.

Prominent environmental achievements from over 100 nations:
The actual stars of the TV gala, however, are the environmental projects from all over the world. For excellent achievements from more than 100 nations, the National ENERGY GLOBE Awards will be presented in Prague on April 13th.

From the 15 nominated projects, an international jury selects the Global ENERGY GLOBE Awards in the categories Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Youth. The World Award is chosen by the gala audience live at the event. Who will receive the ENERGY GLOBE awards? The decision will fall on April 14th at the Global ENERGY GLOBE Awards TV-Gala in the realm of the European meeting of environmental ministers in Prague.

The Energy Globe Gala is presented by Désirée Nosbusch in English.

Voice of Future Generations

The World Future Council brings the interests of future generations to the centre of policy making. Its 50 eminent members from around the globe have already successfully promoted change. The Council addresses challenges to our common future and provides decision-makers with effective policy solutions. In-depth research underpins advocacy work for international agreements, regional policy frameworks and national lawmaking and thus produces practical and tangible results.

Future Policy Award

The Future Policy Award is awarded to laws that have had a proven effect on sustainable development and that are transferable to other countries or regions. The aim of the award is to make these exemplary laws known to the wider public und consequently to support the creation of just, sustainable and peaceful societies. The Future Policy Award is the first prize that celebrates good legislation on an international level.

As the number of people suffering from famine rises dramatically – one billion at the end of 2008 – the inaugural prize, given in 2009, is dedicated to food security:

The winner of the Future Policy Award 2009 is the Programme for Food Security in the city of Belo Horizonte (Brazil). Worldwide it is the most comprehensive legislation on the abolition of hunger and the security of affordable, healthy nutrition for all citizens. The results are impressive: Child mortality in Belo Horizonte has decreased by 60% in the last 10 years, the number of children below the age of 5 that were admitted to hospital for malnutrition has dropped by 75%. 40% of Belo Horizonte’s inhabitants directly profit from the programme. Poor, small-scale farmers, whose cultivation is actively supported and assisted, constitute many of these cases.

The Future Policy Award will be presented to the Brazilian Minister for Social Development und the Fight against Hunger, Patrus Ananias. Mr. Ananias conducted the Food Security Programme during his time in office from 1993-1996 as the Mayor of Belo Horizonte, a metropolis of three million inhabitants.

The Cuban law on the Advancement of Urban Agriculture and the Tuscan law for the protection and promotion of the heritage of local breeds will also receive a Future Policy Award for their success.

Speakers at the Award Ceremony: WFC-founder Jakob von Uexkull, Human Rights Advocate and WFC-Council Member Bianca Jagger, WFC-Council Member and Former UN Assistant Secretary General Hans-Christof Graf von Sponeck (laudatio), Patrus Ananias (Brazilian Minister for Social Development und the Fight Against Hunger).
Host of the evening: Inka Schneider.

VIPs: 250 invited guests from politics, art, science, media and culture: Benjamin Adrion, Anna Augstein, Stefan Aust, Mathias Müller von Blumencron, Arthur E. Darboven, Hannes Jaenicke, David Krieger, Dr. Michael Otto, Jörg Pilawa, Sandra Maahn, Nina Petri, Alexander Fürst zu Schaumburg-Lippe & many more.

The World Awards for Body and Facepainting Artists
July 13 - 19, 2009 - Carinthia/Austria

The World Bodypainting Festival from 13 - 19 July, is the meeting place for the bodypainting world. For a decade now artists from up to 40 nations have travelled to the small town of Seeboden in the South of Austria in the middle of July to be a part of this event.

The festival builds up over a week with three final main days in the “Bodypaint City”, 17 - 19 July, hosting the World Championships. Artists paint directly on the festival site where their living artworks are then presented on stage with spectacular shows, sometimes including the most amazing special effects. This is an outdoor event set on the romantic shores of the Lake Millstattersee with alpine mountains and the warmth of summer turning this little picturesque village into a pumping arts centre. Around 25.000 visitors enter the festival grounds and enjoy the atmosphere of live music, international show acts, multicultural cuisine and living art.

The festival main days, start from 11.00 morning till late night from the 17th – 19th July in the open air festival grounds Klauberpark, the “Bodypaint City”. For the World Awards in 2009 themes are given. The 2 themes will be “Poetry – the power of words” and on the final day “Spirituality, beyond the visible world”.

Several hours of extreme concentration are required from the artists, as well as a lot of patience from the models! In the late afternoon, the painted bodies will be presented to the audience and to the judges. During the presentation, spectacular shows will astonish the visitors! There will also be the night contest in Bodypainting, the ‘World Fluoro Award’. Fluorescent colours will be used and the models will glow and shine by using ultra violet lights all around the stage. Spectacular effects and performances are guaranteed.

Because of the time the artists need during the day, the daily program for the main days will be enlivened by a variety of show events, colour-performance, multimedia-shows, drum-sessions, fantasy fashion-shows, styling-shows, music, DJ’s, demonstration program and lots more.
The festival week finishes off with an explosive awards ceremony on Sunday night for the new World Champions, followed by massive music synchronised fireworks and an after show party supported by international DJ’s.

Advent Event im Stift St. Paul, Kärnten – 10. Dezember 2009

Energy Globe Austria 2009

Jubiläums-Gala am 27. November 2009 in Wels.

Wer passiv baut, schützt aktiv unsere Mutter Erde.

Cross-country skiing extravaganza in Tannheim Valley, Europe’s most beautiful high mountain valley!
January 19 - 25, 2009 / Tyrol, Austria

Anyone who wants to test their endurance and experience the fever of competition is invited to the public cross-country ski run in Tannheim Valley in Tyrol, a natural gem on the border with Bavaria. This is where the start signal will be given for the 13th Tannheim Valley-Bad Hindelang Ski Trail. Around 1,400 participants are expected again this year. The accompanying fringe events are rather impressive: glowing giants of the air, cross-country runs for children and night owls, breath-taking films, as well as free lectures, pointers and equipment trials.

At 9.30 on Saturday the 24th of January, the starting signal for the 14 and 25 km classic races will be given. The longer course leads out of Tannheim towards Unterjoch in neighbouring Allgäu, over the ski trail between Schattwald and Zoeblen, and back to Tannheim.

On Sunday the 25th of January, the participants will leave the tracks behind for the 35 and 55 km skate skiing. The longer course starts in Tannheim and leads to Oberjoch, which at 1,200 metres is the highest mountain village in Germany, and over the Halden Lake back to the starting point. Overall, the athletes will have to overcome an altitude of about 600 metres.

The fringe events are also athletically brilliant: the week-long cross-country event opens on Sunday the 18th of January with a hot air balloon display in Bad Hindelang and Jungholz. This balloon display is incidentally the official highlight of the 14th International Balloon Festival, which takes place in Tannheim from the 8th to the 22nd of January.

Fire-Brigade Old-Timer World Championship 2008

Download program information & footage request form in GERMAN & ENGLISH.

Fire-Brigade Old-Timer World Championship 2008
July 4-6, 2008 - Grossglockner / Austria

Second Fire-Brigade Old-Timer World Championship: "The Glockner is Burning!"

The Grossglockner (3,798m; highest mountain in Austria & highest alpine road in Europe) has proven itself often enough to the endurance test of cyclists and old timers. However, what’s happening this year on the "northern ramp" of Austrias highest mountain, tops any previous event.

At the Fire-Brigade Old-Timer World Championship total commitment is asked from the veterans from Steyrer, Rosenbauer, Daimler to Unimog and TAM. However it’s not about fire and flame, but the Fire-Brigade Old Timers "World Championship". Many fire trucks such as Opel, Mercedes and Volkswagen, which have been huffing and puffing up the mountain roads for at least 25 years, will be found on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.

The initiators have reported that inquiries and registrations from all German-speaking countries, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy and Slovenia have already been submitted. There are "uniform-time-trials" on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, so that a fair overall winner can be determined for all of the diverse models. Numerous important side events are planned: for instance a Fire-Brigade Old-Timer Korso, a fire-engine show, a team-spray-competition with a hand pump from 1913. At the World Champion Evening Ball the first Fire-Brigade Old Timer World Champion and the winner of the team-spray-competition will be celebrated "full blast".

The following rare old timers among others are registered: Steyr 1500 Cabrio fire-brigade car manufactured in 42; Campagnola 1970 from Italy; Landrover 1965; Haflinger 703 manufactured in1963 etc...

www.energyglobe.info

Press release May 27, 2008 for download.

The ENERGY GLOBE AWARD is the world’s most prestigious and respected environmental award. The ENERGY GLOBE is awarded to projects from all over the world that make careful and economical use of resources and employ alternative energy sources. The winning projects are presented in the categories Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Youth.

This year, 800 projects from 109 nations are submitted in the ENERGY GLOBE Award competition.

After the event’s sensational success last year, the European Parliament decided to host the international Energy Globe television gala again this year.
On Monday, Mai 26, 2008, the Plenary Hall of the European Parliament in Brussels will again open its doors to this international environmental mega-event.

Nobel peace prize winners Kofi Annan & Mikhail Gorbachev, parliament president Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering and Maneka Ghandi (chairman of the award jury) will present the Energy Globe awards in the 5 categories Earth, Fire, Air, Water and Youth.
Some of the prominent guests invited include EU Commission president José Manuel Barroso, other leading EU politicians, artists and singers such as, Alanis Morisette & Zucchero.

Chess Boxing merges two allegedly contradicting sports, both pushing their athletes to the limit, mentally as well as physically. Six lightning rounds of speed chess alternate with five rounds of boxing. In a maximum of eleven rounds, the decision will come either through K.O. or checkmate.

The evening will climax with the fight Frank Stoldt vs. Nikolay Sazhin. Frank Stoldt won the first light heavyweight world championship title in chess boxing after defeating American David Depto (San Francisco) on 9 November 2007 in a dramatic fight. This time he defends his title against 19 year-old Russian Nikolay Sazhin. From Krasnojarsk in Siberia, Nikolay Sazhin (19) is 1.83 tall, weighs 85 kg and has shown his talent in more than 60 boxing matches (49/13/0). After seven years at his chess club “Ladia”, Nikolay has reached an ELO-rating of 1911 and is considered to be Russia’s most promising chessboxing talent.

The coming chessboxing superpower Russia has woken up with a roar! Being a traditional chess nation and having conquered the world of boxing during the last 20 years, Russia now seeks to prove that the world’s strongest chessboxers come from Russia, too.

“ANTI TERROR“ Frank Stoldt is a 37-year old riot policeman from Berlin, he weighs 84.5 kg and is 1.87 tall. He is a former Berlin Kickboxing Champion and furthermore has 25 boxing bouts behind him. In 2005 he began chessboxing and has since then won every fight. His ELO-rating is 1960. In his capacity as a policeman he went to Kosovo on behalf of the United Nations to train policemen there.

Will experienced Frank Stoldt be able to keep the title in Berlin or will he loose it to the upcoming chessboxing star Nikolay Sazhin?

Burn with poker fever with Jean Reno!

Don’t fold – go all in at the Interwetten Charity Poker 08: Interwetten is setting new standards in the field of poker events with this unique worldwide Poker Competition. This is an event to challenge the world’s best amateur players. On March 13 the eight finalists from the Interwetten Charity Poker 08 will have an extraordinary break – to line up against the French Hollywood star, Jean Reno, in the luxurious surroundings of one of Vienna’s top hotels.
The net proceeds from this tournament go to Amnesty International.

It’s incredible but true, the fit between Jean Reno and Interwetten in November 07 was just perfect. Thomas Daubek, Interwetten CEO, states his reasons for choosing Jean Reno for the Interwetten Charity Poker 08: “For us as a European business venture there is no more suitable international film star than Jean Reno to showcase the poker product and the spirit of the brand. He’s a masculine kind of guy with life experience. And to fit the product, he has a poker face!”

The winner of the tournament will be the very first member of the recently founded Interwetten Poker Academy.
The tournament starts on January 18, 2008 and all players in the online community on the entire Interwetten net have an equal chance. There are 8 grand online qualifying tournaments and placements will be decided at the final table. The winners will travel to Vienna to compete against Jean Reno.

At the end of the Charity Gala, Monsieur Jean Reno and Thomas Daubek will together have the pleasure of handing over the cheque to Amnesty International.

Energy Globe 2007

Event Information:

It is our duty and responsibility to make sure that in the future our young people find an environment that is worthy to live. This was the driving force that made Mr. Wolfgang Neumann 7 years ago start the “World Award for Sustainability”, today’s most prestigious and acknowledged environmental award. The ENERGY GLOBE aims at informing the international public about as many sustainable projects as possible, which are reproducible.

World-premiere! For the first time a TV-Show takes place at and is broadcast from the European Parliament in Brussels. Reason for this “miracle”: the ENERGY GLOBE Award. 732 projects from 96 countries were submitted in the categories Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Youth. Under the Chairmanship of Maneka Ghandi, an Indian environmentalist and politician, the international Jury awarded the following projects:

Category Earth: John Maina from Kenya for implementing solar energy ovens for drying vegetables and fruits. Thus local farmers are able to increase their harvest by 50% without harming the environment.

Category Fire: The UNEP Risoe Center and the Risoe National Laboratory Denmark for launching a four-year plan for establishing over 16000 solar homes in India together with Danish support and local Indian funding.

Category Water: Jerry M. Brownstein for developing a very effective waste water treatment, using a special water filter, made of recycled plastics for gaining drinking water from waste water.

Category Air: Reindert Augustijn for inventing small Biogas plants helping to reduce annual CO2 emissions up to 54000 tons and role models for another 150000 plants.

Category Youth: University of Art/Linz for inventing a new solar passive house in South Africa, which is able to provide an indoor temperature level of 20 degrees independently from outdoor temperature using a natural air condition system.

National Award: Goes to the host country Belgium for sensitively changing a historical old private house into an energy saving building.

ENERGY GLOBE Founder Wolfgang Neumann: The awarded projects are excellent role models to the whole world! If we don’t blame others and start taking action, all goals to protect the environment are within reach!

For more detailed information please visit: www.energyglobe.info

The environmentalist was supported by celebrities from all over the world: Hollywood-star Martin Sheen, author and Waris Dirie, pop singer Robin Gibb, star violinist Nigel Kennedy, the Indian environmentalist Maneka Ganddi and the President of the European Parliament Mr. Hans-Gert Poettering.

Energy Globe Austria Gala Night with international stars in Wels/Austria on November 30th, 2007.

Introduced by top presenter Desirée Nosbusch.

There will be glamour, glitter and top stars at the Energy Globe Austria Television Gala on 30 November in Wels!  Plus the world premiere of the Energy Globe Song “The time is now”, which will be performed for the first time by the Amadeus Prize winning duo Papermoon in front of an audience of over 1000 invited guests and VIPs from politics and commerce.

“The Time is now” can also be said in respect of Austria’s best environmental performers, who will be in the limelight that evening in the following categories: earth, fire, water, air and youth: outstanding projects have been nominated for their forward-looking know how, combining innovative commitment to the environment with maximum profitability, and serving as model projects for the whole of Europe.  The range extends from solar powered high tech cooling systems to intelligent control systems, ecological carpet cleaning, energy self-sufficient sewage plants, CO2-free transport logistics, energy-efficient architecture and innovative mobility concepts for schoolchildren.

The 90 minute TV show has other attractions also: the German hit parade star Sascha, who is heavily committed to climate protection issues, will sing his way into the hearts of the “teens and twens” in Wels, particularly with his “Lucky Day” – and there are other musical surprises in the programme.

A hot tip from America – and on the way to becoming a “shooting star” – is the pop singer Nisha, who was discovered by Michael Jackson and has sung with him as a duo.  Nisha will perform “Earth Song” as her tribute to Energy Globe.

The world famous Shaolin monks will give an impressive demonstration of how concentration as pure energy can control the body.

There is thus plenty to look forward to at this unique Energy Globe Austria Gala Evening, which will close with a fascinating interlude by the famous Lido star Elena.

Advent in Velden 2007

Download program information in German, Italian & Slovenian.

The most beautiful & traditional Austrian Christmas Market in Velden on lake Wörthersee

30. November – 23. December 2007 – Velden / Austria

Advent in Velden – the glowing city of angels on the bank of lake Wörthersee

During Advent season Velden changes into the glowing city of angels on the bank of lake Wörthersee. The whole place is dressed in a bright gown, it glisters and twinkles as soon as dusk falls.

Other than in big cities, the Christmas market is spread out in the entire town. The various market stands are always arranged in small groups. The stroll through the market and the city becomes an expedition. The spa park is part of the market as well. Here you can enjoy your punch from a big pot-au-feu having a gorgeous view over the bay of Velden. Even the large, swimming Advent wreath is unique. With its 80.000 lights and 25 metres diameter it is the shining landmark of the Advent in Velden.

Christ Child instead of Santa Claus

In Velden you unavailingly look for Santa Claus, because Christ Child is at home here. No rumbling „ho, ho, ho“ and no white beards – the Advent in Velden is an Advent of bygone days!

Children’s Advent

The Advent in Velden is an adventure especially for children. Be it in the in angels’ bakery, where busy angels assist children with baking or in angels’ typing room, where big and small wishes are committed to paper. In order that the letter gets to Christ Child in time, it will be sent directly from angels’ air mail office to heaven with a small balloon. All children, who still need a gift, can get this done in angels’ handicrafts room. Particularly at the first Advent weekend also concerts have their focus on children. School choirs and kids music groups create a broad concert program.

Show and Art Handicraft

Artisans demonstrate their skills in the foyer of the casino Velden. Wood-, clay-, glass and jewel artists, woodcutter, weavers, doll makers and others show their art handwork. At “Brunnenplatz” it sparks and fumes when smiths present their handicraft.
