„The Champions“: World figure skating stars in the Swiss mountains
In the midst of the snowy Swiss mountains the Eisgala Davos presents «The Champions» on Friday, 10 and Saturday, 11 February 2012. It promises to be a magical show of current World and European champions.
On hand will be the world’s current best pair skaters Aliona Savchenko/Robin Szolkowy and Tatiana Volosozhar/Maxim Trankov, gold and silver medalists at the 2011 World Championships in Moscow. These two pairs of skaters battle each other at international competitions for the coveted top prize of being the best. Both show off beautiful, engaging choreography and the highest level of difficulty in their jumps and lifts.
This year’s mega-star at the Eisgala Davos comes from Japan – the current World Champion Miki Ando. Her style is considered emotional, tender, elegant and loose. In contrast, the charming European Champion Florent Amodio is considered the cool figure skating entertainer. The brash Frenchman with the Brazilian roots sets the ice on fire. Also the two most successful Swiss figure skaters, two-time World Champion Stéphane Lambiel and 2011 European Champion Sarah Meier, glide onto the ice.
A fantastic light show, video projections on the ice, plenty of acrobatics and entertainment make up the framework for the amazing athletic performances. There is also an additional delight for the spectators in Davos and those watching on TV: the usual perimeter bands will be dispensed with at the Vaillant Arena, allowing the viewer to be even closer to the happenings on the ice.

The borders of Austria, Italy, and Slovenia form the Dreiländereck mountain, it is here that the Wörthersee can be found. It has and offers everything all 4 seasons of the year. You can experience nature, great events, peace and quiet yet also a southern temper and a vibrant nightlife.
The Wörthersee is at the heart of the region, 17km in length, and as warm as 27 degrees Celsius, the surroundings are beautiful and the scenery breathtaking. Romance, vivid lifestyle, tradition and Hollywood flair can be felt in the air.
The incomparable charm of the region has always attracted illustrious guests such as Johannes Brahms and Gustav Mahler who, inspired by the lake, wrote timeless music here. During the times of the Wirtschaftswunderjahre in Germany and Austria the Film industry transformed the Wörthersee into the Riviera of Austria.
Headliner Wörthersee: Around 100 movies have already been filmed here.
Bing Crosby and Omar Sharif, Hans Moser and Rudi Carell, Alain Delon and Ingrid Bergmann, Udo Jürgens and Ottfried Fischer. They all have one thing in common: They have filmed and still do film at the Wörthersee. For more than 60 years, Austria’s most well known lake has not only played the backdrop, but has also taken the lead role in over 100 movies. Film history is being written here.
Wether the Supernasen featuring Thomas Gottschalk and Mike Krüger or Zärtliche Chaoten featuring Helmut Fischer or Tierärztin Christine featuring Uschi Glas – they have all played here and sometimes still do perform on the Wörthersee. That's how an international cast of celebrities featuring Ingrid Bergmann, Omar Sharif, Alain Delon, and Shirley MacLaine filmed "Der gelbe Rolls-Royce" here in 1964.
In the early 90s, the "Schloss am Wörthersee" was the center of attention. All 3 seasons of a famous TV show and all 34 episodes of it were filmed around the lake, in particular, giving Roy Black the chance at a terrific comeback. "Der Arzt vom Wörthersee" which is the youngest production with episodes being aired in 2007, fits right in with this entertaining series as well.
The Wörthersee is an exciting, colorful, hotspot with a lust for life. The basis of the indescribable appeals of this little piece of paradise and its untouched surroundings are what give this place the unique and beautiful feeling.
