World Bodypainting Festival 2010

The World´s best bodypainters met this week (12-18 July 2010) on Lake Millstättersee (Carinthia/Austria) to compete in the World Bodypainting Awards“. The artform that combines dance, drama, painting and photography together to create boundry breaking art was the reason for thousands of artists to converge on the small Austrian town of Seeboden. The WBF Institute of Sounds plays a large role in the direction of the festivals performances.

On the amazing scenery of Lake Millstättersee the 13th World Bodypainting Festival was held between the 12th and 18th of July. This year the main highlight was again the title of World Bodypainting Champion in different categories for which over 200 artists from over 40 countries competed. „It was incredibly impressive to see the passion and professionalism with which these artists create their artworks“ said organizer Alex Barendregt. True to the themes „Sources of Power“ & „Sub Cultures“ the visitors were presented with powerful stage performances each day. The new World Champions got the World-Awards late in the night on Sunday.

Growth in Visitors
The „World Bodypainting Festival“ is happy to announce an annual growth in the number of visitors to the event. In this year over 28.000 Festival fans were counted in Seeboden.

Festival travels „around the world“
There are very few events in Europe who attract such a number of photographers. This is not so hard to understand when ones remembers that exactly this art form is so short lived and after just a few hours will be washed away forever. More than 150 photographers take part in the annual Photo Award which is booked out in just a few weeks.

Storm on the international music acts
This years music and entertainment follows the international format with bands and music groups travelling to play from all the corners of the world. Particularly large crowds showed up for the star act Culcha Candela (Germany) & Dr. Alban (Nigeria, Sweden).
